Official Information:

Information from the Solothurn cantonal police on border controls
at Grenchen regional airport from 8 June

  • From  8th June 2020:

Abolition of the channelling of passenger flights from abroad at the national airports of Zurich-Kloten, Geneva-Cointrin and Basel-Mulhouse;
Swiss nationals entering Switzerland from abroad will be able to cross the border at Grenchen from 8 June 2020.
EU/Schengen citizens and third-country nationals with a residence permit from an EU/Schengen state may enter Grenchen if they fulfil the requirements set out in the COVID instructions of the SEM of 08.06.2020. Points 1.5 to 1.5.6 must be observed.

  • From 15th June 2020:

As of 15 June 2020, it is planned to remove DEU, AUT and FRA from the risk list and to return completely to the entry and border control regime before Corona with regard to these states at the terrestrial and air borders. There are no plans to open the border with Italy at this time. There are, however, close contacts with Italy at State Secretary level.

As of 15 June 2020, flights from Germany, Austria and France will not be included in the list of risk countries and will again be classified as intra-Schengen flights. The border control authorities (police) no longer carry out systematic checks.

The list of risk countries can be found in the COVID Regulation in Appendix 1 on page 29.

  • From 6th July 2020:

As of 6th July 2020, it is planned - again subject to epidemiological developments - to remove all Schengen states from the risk list and thus simultaneously abolish internal border controls against all states.

  • Not yet determined

A complete lifting of the entry restrictions on third countries is only planned at a later date after 6th July 2020, in close coordination with the EU. However, everything is still open in this respect.

  • No accumulations of persons

max. 5 persons in a distance of 2m

  • Professional and private flights:

Direct Departures are possible without restriction to all destinations (subject to reglations at the place of arrival abroad).

Air traffic for the transport of passengers from abroad is channelled at the national airports of Zurich-Kloten, Geneva-Cointrin and Basel-Mulhouse.
Passenger flights from abroad to other Swiss customs airports are prohibited.
Freight and work flights, flights for maintenance purposes and ambulance flights are not considered passenger flights.
